Current Satire

And what of you have you been there

Or is your time still to come?

Alas my friend if you don't know

Then time can't beat your drum

Rose C Taylor 1973

During the past week it has been very disturbing listening to those who oppose our current government and in particular, our Prime Minister, with regard to Saddam Hussein and the possible war on Iraq.

While the opposition party have every right to freedom of speech I take exception to their blatant political scoring and their complete disregard towards our allies.

While many of us may never have been touched by the horrors of war there would have to be, like my self, equally as many who have, not to mention those among us who lost their loved ones not only through the act of terror carried out in Bali but also on September 11th.

It is imperative, and without question, that in times like these, we, as a nation, are united.

Keeping the heat out of the kitchen is up to us and that is why I state - if you can't stand the heat get out of the country - and leave the preservation and safety of our people to those who have the foresight to take the necessary action to achieve this outcome.

If time is to beat your drum may you pray that, time permitting, the result of this action will be in the affirmative.

Update 7/01/07:  It has been a long time coming but at least Saddam Hussein is gone.   No I don't believe in the death penalty but in this case we can rest assured he won't be back.   Let us now hope that Iraq and it's people can finally, with the aid of those still prepared to help them, eradicate those who continue to train suicide bombers.
